Saturday, October 23, 2010, Jakarta – Monster performance by Chris Commons, Chris Garnett & Bryan Faundo powered Brunei Barracudas to edged Satria Muda BritAma 87 – 70 for their 1st victory of the AirAsia Asean Basketball League 2010/2011 season.

The Brunei Barracudas ended a-3-games losing streak and found its first win of Air ASEAN Basketball League 2010/2011 season. Barracudas crushed Satria Muda BritAma 87-70 in Britama Arena, Jakarta. (more…)

Bandar Seri BegawanThey say two heads are better than one. The Brunei Barracudas couldn’t agree more believing that Bong Ramos’s return at the helm will make the side more organised.

Still without a win in their first three Asean Basketball League (ABL) games, the Barracudas brought back Ramos to replace American Ozell Wells as the head coach on Wednesday, and the consensus among players is that the Filipino is the right man for the job with Wells still playing an important role as an assistant coach alongside Wong Yee Chai. Wells named new assistant

STILL in search of their first Asean Basketball League (ABL) win, the Brunei Barracudas yesterday dropped head coach Ozell Wells in favour of his predecessor Bong Ramos.

The Filipino led the team to a 6-9 record last year that saw them fall short off making the playoffs in the inaugural season, finishing fifth in the six-team tournament.

As its stands now, the Barracudas will have a tough time just finishing second from bottom. (more…)

Brunei, Saturday, October 16, 2010 — The Brunei Barracudas saw a six-point lead with 26 seconds to go in regulation time disappear when Santiago Jr Cabatu sank two consecutive three-pointers to even things up at 61-61 at the buzzer. In overtime, the Barracudas were outscored 11-6 and lost their first ASEAN Basketball League home game 67-72.

The Patriots led by as many as 10 points early in the fourth quarter but the Barracudas tied it up with a Chester Tolomia three-pointer at 55-55 with 4:40 to go. (more…)

Bangkok, Saturday, October 9, 2010 — The Thailand Slammers notched their second consecutive victory of the new ASEAN Basketball League (ABL) season with a 17-point, 76-59 victory over the visiting Brunei Barracudas.

The Slammers improve to a 2-0 win-loss record after winning their opening game against the KL Dragons last weekend at home. For the Barracudas, this is their second loss in a row and they fall to 0-2.

The Slammers were led by Chris Kuete’s 33 points and eight rebounds, pulling away in the 4th quarter to make it a blow out as the Barracudas paid the price for having 19 turnovers. (more…)

Pasig City, Saturday, October 2, 2010 — A new-look Philippine Patriots started off slowly but eventually triumphed 71-62 over the visiting Brunei Barracudas on the opening day of the ASEAN Basketball League (ABL).

The Patriots nearly squandered a 12-point lead when the Barracudas went on a scoring spree in the final period but former University of Santo Tomas star Allen Maliksi rose to the occasion to help the team weather the late Barracudas charge. (more…)

After 45 matches played over the course of more than three months, the inaugural ASEAN Basketball League (ABL) regular season has come to a close.

This region finally has a professional basketball league to call our own, and we’ve seen our fair share of thrills and spills as the six teams battled for league supremacy and a coveted play-off spot. (more…)

In Red Hoops’ second part of the 2009/10 ASEAN Basketball League (ABL) Season Review, team defence is the focus.

The Brunei Barracudas may have averaged the most points per game (78.9), but they have also allowed the most (82.3 points per game). If we take a closer look at point differential (points scored minus points allowed) for each team, we would have a clearer picture of how each team manages their points at both ends of the court.

Barracudas: -3.4
Dragons: -4.0
Patriots: +5.5
Satria Muda: +2.9
Slingers: +3.4
Tigers: -4.4

They would rank as they are on the league standings, except that the Barracudas and Dragons have swapped places. (more…)

Trying to get the goat of Gabe Freeman backfired on the Brunei Barracudas as the former PBA Best Import produced a monster game in leading the Philippine Patriots to an 87-65 rout in Sunday’s 1st ASEAN Basketball League at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.

Freeman suffered bloodied lips with 3:50 left in the first period after a hard foul from Barracudas’ Leo Avenido. (more…)
