Brunei, Saturday, October 16, 2010 — The Brunei Barracudas saw a six-point lead with 26 seconds to go in regulation time disappear when Santiago Jr Cabatu sank two consecutive three-pointers to even things up at 61-61 at the buzzer. In overtime, the Barracudas were outscored 11-6 and lost their first ASEAN Basketball League home game 67-72.

The Patriots led by as many as 10 points early in the fourth quarter but the Barracudas tied it up with a Chester Tolomia three-pointer at 55-55 with 4:40 to go. Read the rest of this entry »

Jakarta, Saturday, October 16, 2010 — The Thailand Slammers won their first away game today when they crushed Satria Muda 84-63. It was also their third consecutive win and they now have a 3-0 win-loss record and sit top of the ASEAN Basketball League.

The Slammers were up 44-29 at half-time and dominated the third quarter 28-18 to move into the fourth quarter leading by a massive 25 points at 72-47.

The Slammers were 29-of-60 (48%) from field-goal range and sank 10 of 22 (45%) three-point attempts. They outrebounded their hosts 49-29. Read the rest of this entry »

Bangkok, Saturday, October 9, 2010 — The Thailand Slammers notched their second consecutive victory of the new ASEAN Basketball League (ABL) season with a 17-point, 76-59 victory over the visiting Brunei Barracudas.

The Slammers improve to a 2-0 win-loss record after winning their opening game against the KL Dragons last weekend at home. For the Barracudas, this is their second loss in a row and they fall to 0-2.

The Slammers were led by Chris Kuete’s 33 points and eight rebounds, pulling away in the 4th quarter to make it a blow out as the Barracudas paid the price for having 19 turnovers. Read the rest of this entry »

Pasig City, Saturday, October 9, 2010 — The Philippine Patriots beat the visiting Singapore Slingers 62-59 to secure their second win of the ASEAN Basketball League regular season.

Pasig City, Saturday, October 2, 2010 — A new-look Philippine Patriots started off slowly but eventually triumphed 71-62 over the visiting Brunei Barracudas on the opening day of the ASEAN Basketball League (ABL).

The Patriots nearly squandered a 12-point lead when the Barracudas went on a scoring spree in the final period but former University of Santo Tomas star Allen Maliksi rose to the occasion to help the team weather the late Barracudas charge. Read the rest of this entry »

Bangkok, Saturday, October 2, 2010 — With the merry-go-round seen in the ASEAN Basketball League (ABL) off season, it was inevitable that an ex-player would come back to haunt a team. That first honour went to Chris Kuete on opening day when he powered his new team Thailand Slammers to a 79-74 win over his former team, the KL Dragons.

Kuete scored 31 points, including nine crucial points in overtime.

The Slammers went on an early 16–6 run before they went scoreless for almost four minutes in the face of a solid Dragons defense. The Dragons then went on a 10-2 run to ensure that they finished the first quarter trailing only by two (16-18). Read the rest of this entry »

Singapore Indoor Stadium, Sunday, October 3, 2010 — The Singapore Slingers started their second ASEAN Basketball League (ABL) season on a brilliant note with a nail-biting 94-93 win over arch-rivals and last year’s runners-up Satria Muda at home.

ASEAN import Leo Avenido led the Slingers with 20 points, including five three-pointers and four rebounds, while Kyle Jeffers and Marcus Skinner got double-doubles with 19 points each together with 10 and 11 boards respectively. Wednesday, October 20, 2010, Petaling Jaya – The Westports KL Dragons decided to regroup their line-up, adding American Nakiea Miller to replace Irish Jason Killeen.

Nakiea Miller is no stranger to the ABL fans, who played for Satria Muda BritAma last season alongside Alex Hartman. Standing at 6’10”, Nakiea will be the man in the middle who Dragons heavily depending on, and once again form a formidable inside-outside combo punch with Alex Hartman.
Besides Miller, the Westports KL Dragons also acquired Filipino Patrick Cabahug to replace Kevin White.
